Your Guide to LHP Studio
Everything you need to know about classes, bookings and being part of our studio community
We want you to feel at home at LHP studio. A place where you can arrive, settle in and feel comfortable — whether it’s your very first Pilates class or you’ve been coming to us for years.
So we’ve brought together everything you need to know about coming to Lauren Hilton Pilates in one place. From what to wear and when to arrive, to cancelling a class, managing your membership and letting us know when something has changed with your health.
And if there’s something we haven’t answered, just ask. We’re always happy to help.
Before your first class
If you’re new to LHP, you’ll need to create a TeamUp account when you make your first booking. This is where you’ll manage your classes and membership. We’ll also ask you to complete a health questionnaire before you come to the studio.
Please tell us about any injuries, health conditions, surgery or anything else that might affect your movement. If you’re currently injured, in pain, recovering from surgery or unsure whether a group class is right for you, please get in touch before booking. A one-to-one session may be a better place to start, and we can help you decide.
Coming to the studio
You’ll find us at The Studio, 11 Mount Street, Shrewsbury, SY3 8QJ. Frankwell Car Park is just a few minutes' walk away, and parking there is free after 6 pm.
If you’re coming for a one-to-one session, you can park outside the studio. The studio doors open around 10 minutes before your class. If another class is finishing when you arrive, please give everyone a moment to leave before entering.
We know life happens and occasionally you might arrive a couple of minutes late. Come in quietly, take a little time to warm yourself up and join the class when you’re ready.
If you’re more than 5 minutes late, though, you won’t be able to join the session. You’ll have missed an important part of the warm-up, and we want to keep both you and everyone else in the class safe.
What should I wear?
Nothing fancy.
Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely. Please avoid external zips, belts or metal fastenings that could catch on or damage the Pilates equipment.
The studio is shoe-free, so leave your shoes in the cloakroom when you arrive.
Socks are worn for classes, and grip socks are essential for equipment sessions for safety and traction.
If you forget yours, we have some available to buy at the studio. Long hair is best tied back when using the equipment.
What should I bring?
Just yourself, really.
We provide mats, props and all the Pilates equipment you'll need. You might like to bring a bottle of water. There’s a cloakroom for coats, bags, shoes and other belongings so you can leave them behind and have an hour that's properly yours.
We like to keep the studio a calm, focused space, so please keep phones tucked away during class. If you need to remain contactable for a child, relative, work or anything else important, just let your teacher know. We understand that sometimes being completely unavailable simply isn't possible.
During your class
Your teacher is there to guide you, offer suggestions and help you explore movement safely, but you are always in charge of your own body.
Something that felt good last week might not feel right today. You can pause, rest or choose not to do something at any point. Pilates isn't about keeping up with the person next to you or pushing through discomfort.
The more you practise, the better you'll become at noticing what your own body is telling you. We'd much rather you ask a question than spend a class wondering whether you're doing something correctly.
Bodies and lives change.
Please tell your teacher if you have a new injury, pain, diagnosis, surgery or other health change that could affect your movement — even if you've been coming to us for years.
Depending on what's going on, we may recommend a one-to-one session before returning to a group class so that we can understand what you need and help you move confidently.
If you're pregnant, please let us know too. We have specialist Pregnancy Pilates classes designed to support you as your body changes.
Looking after our shared studio
We’re a small studio, and everything in it is used by our community throughout the day. After your session, we'll ask you to clean the equipment and props you've used, ready for the next person.
Please treat the studio, equipment, teachers and the other people sharing the space with you with care and consideration.
Above all, LHP is somewhere people feel welcomed, known, included, supported and connected. Whatever your age, experience or starting point, you should feel that you belong here.
Booking and cancelling classes
Your bookings can be managed through your TeamUp account.
If you know you can't make a class, please remove yourself as soon as possible. Apart from helping you manage your own booking, it gives someone else the chance to take the space.
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy for all classes and sessions. If you're a member and cancel more than 24 hours before your class, you can use an eligible class swap, subject to availability and the terms of your membership.
Classes cancelled within 24 hours are forfeited and can't be swapped.
PAYG classes cannot be swapped.
Memberships
Membership gives you a regular reserved place in your class and is designed to make a consistent Pilates practice easier.
Our memberships begin with a minimum three-month commitment before moving to a rolling monthly arrangement. If you decide to leave after your initial three months, we ask for 30 days' notice by email so that we can confirm your final class and payment.
You can find current membership options, prices and what's included on our Memberships page.
Waitlists
If the class you'd like is full, join the waitlist. Spaces do come up, particularly when clients cancel in advance, and we'll let you know when there's an opportunity to book.
It's also why we ask everyone to cancel promptly when they know they can't attend — your cancelled space could be exactly the one somebody else has been waiting for.
Class swaps for members
We know holidays, appointments, and life can occasionally get in the way of your regular class. Eligible members can swap a missed class into another available class within their membership type:
Mat members can swap into another Mat class.
Reformer members can swap into an available Reformer or Mat class.
Studio members can swap to any available class.
Swaps are always subject to availability, so we can't guarantee another space will be available.
Your membership page contains the full details of what's included in your particular membership.
A little consideration goes a long way
LHP is deliberately small. Mat classes have a maximum of 10 people and our Reformer and Studio classes are even smaller. It means we get to know you — and hopefully you get to know some of the people you move alongside too.
Please be considerate of the people around you, respect everyone's personal space and remember that everybody arrives at Pilates with a different body, different experiences and different reasons for being here.
LHP Studio is a friendly, inclusive place where people feel comfortable being themselves.
Still have a question?
Just ask us. If you're unsure which class to choose, need to tell us about an injury or health change, can't work out a booking or simply want some advice, get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction.
